Case Study

Head of Business Unit - Major Financial Organisation, Australia

Our client is a market leading financial services group.

Following the departure of this business head (and two predecessors over a small number of years) the decision was taken to conduct a global search to find a replacement. The primary focus of the search was to be in Europe and Australia, but we were also to cover Asia. This is a highly visible role and in a comparatively small and overlapping market globally.

The Approach

The search was conducted in parallel between London and Sydney. Even though there were issues previously in the role, we identified eight candidates in the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe within four to six weeks. Interest in the role was far higher than anticipated, although candidates came to us with key questions.

We talked with numerous contacts in Sydney, Melbourne, London, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore; three people (well known to us and our client) provided us with 30 potential names across four continents, all of whom had both relevant experience and represented a strong cultural fit. This quantity and quality of information was a reflection of the high standing of our client and how well we knew these people.

The Result

A thorough search across different markets produced seven outstanding candidates - three from the UK, one from Singapore and three from Australia.
