Case Study

CEO Telecommunications Company, Asia

Our client is an Asian conglomerate with diversified businesses across telecommunications, media and mining;  primarily in the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.

Following the partial acquisition of an established telecommunications business the decision was taken to appoint a CEO. There were specific sensitivities around the entity itself and geographical location.  Over the years they have appointed a number of Australians to various offices, this was their initial preference, but they recognised the market in Australia was small.

The Approach

We conducted a thorough search of the market in Australia and from here identified candidates in the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.  We then identified an expatriate Australian living in America and ready for his next challenge.

The Result

We were successful in gaining the interest of four candidates - there were ongoing specific political sensitiviites in the country where the job would be based.  We identified someone whose cultural background was consistent with others they have employed over the years and at the same time had the breadth of global experience to contribute to the strategic direction of the company going forward.
